We were however able to state the service was effective, caring, responsive and well-led. We refer the reader to our report published in June 2014 which outlined our findings from that inspection. The Home specialises in providing both intermediate and long term care for vulnerable and elderly residents, including those who are mentally frail or suffering from brain injury. It aims to ensure that all residents are able to maintain a quality of life which is both individualised and responsive to their particular needs within a homely setting. Residents are thus assured of privacy, independence and dignity supported by the highest possible standards of sympathetic professional care. The owner had a strong ethos which ensured quality standards were high, and the staff team had a good understanding of providing a person centred service.
CQC Rating for Clovelly House Care Home
They had the skills, knowledge and experience required to support people in their care. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet the needs of people who lived at the home. Our residents are cared for by a small, well-trained, close knit group of carers who know our residents very well.

Staff we spoke with said everyone in the staff team worked in a professional manner and the management had high standards regarding the care people in the home should receive. Both staff and people who used the service said managers at the home were approachable and would take appropriate action if there was any practice which was not seen as acceptable. We specialise in residential care for the elderly, providing respite, day-care and long-term residences for over 65’s. – the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. It monitors and inspects services, to make sure they are safe, effective and provide high-quality care.
The Crescent Residential Care Home
The owner ensured staff worked in a manner which resulted in people being well cared for and respected, while ensuring staff were respected and appropriately supported. The registered manager used a variety of methods to assess and monitor the quality of the service. These included regular audits, staff, relative and ‘resident’ meetings to seek their views about the service provided. We have two lounges in the care home where residents may socialise. Our front lounge has high ceilings and period features, it is a busy meeting place where residents enjoy cups of tea by the fire and multiple activities such as exercise classes and arts & crafts. Our second lounge is placed at the rear of the house with French doors that open onto Clovelly House’s gardens.

We prioritise this personal 1-1 care by ensuring high staffing levels are maintained at all times, resulting in a high quality of care. Further to this, all resident care plans are person centred, focusing on each individual's needs and desired outcomes. They are updated by carers, to ensure that the most up to date information is recorded and used to ensure the best possible outcomes for our guests. At our inspection in June 2014 we were concerned there had been incidents where staff had not followed correct procedures regarding the administration of nine individual dosages of medication. As a consequence we issued a compliance action as overall we could not judge the service was safe.

In one case we were told this was because a person was asleep, although we were not able to account for other instances. We saw that the home was well maintained, furnished and decorated to a good standard. Most of the equipment was well maintained and regularly serviced according to health and safety standards.
